What Is Sugaring?

A Brief History

Sugar waxing, more commonly referred to as suagaring, is an ancient method of hair removal, dating back to the ancient Egyptians. Sugaring appears in early hair removal references from the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece, and Mesopotamia. The biggest update to sugaring is the addition of strips to remove the wax in addition to the traditional hand pull method.

Ingredients

Sugar wax is made by heating a mixture of water, sugar, and lemon juice, and then cooling to a paste.

What Makes It Different

All Sugaring is waxing, but not all waxing is sugaring. Other waxes include hard wax and soft wax. Both these waxes are produced with resins compared to the natural ingredients in sugaring.

There are many ways to remove hair and no technique or tool is technically wrong, it just depends on each individual person and the area being waxed. What attracts most people to sugaring is the wax's ability to cling to the hair but not to the skin. This makes sugaring an alternative for people with sensitive skin and for people who tend to react to waxing with red bumps and irritation.
